Birthday Wish List

Next Saturday will be my 23rd Birthday and I can't believe that it's only in a week! Even though I'm still unsure on what I'm going to do on my birthday I did have a good idea of what I wanted for it.
  • New Tattoo- I've gotten money saved up and just looking for a time to go down and get another one. There were so many ideas but I like the idea of a ship wheel and possibly adding a Doctor Who spin to it.
  • Leopard Print Flats- I love flats and wear them all the time so these leopard print ones would go perfect for my (slow) growing collection.
  • Doctor the Recipe Shakes- I think they're just darn adorable and I love Doctor Who.
  • KitchenAid Mixer- The item that inspired my recent tattoo is something I've wanted for a while, though I may not get it for my birthday it's too pretty not to put on here.
  • Drawstring Backpack- Though I don't carry a backpack much, but I going to a concert/festival a few days after my birthday and this would be too perfect (plus cute) to carry all the things.
  • Denim Vest- Who doesn't want a cool denim vest they and trick out with patches and pins?

Recipes | Warm Apple Cider for Two! from Of Corgis and Cocktails

applecider6

Hi there! I'm Katherine and I blog at Of Corgis and Cocktails where I talk about all things related to fashion, food, and fido. It's finally time for really yummy hot apple cider. I really quite enjoy a piping hot cocktail on a chilly fall night, especially since I haven't turned my heat on. So here's my little recipe for a serving for two for hot apple cider with rum.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone! Sadly I have to work tonight and so does le boyfriend so no celebrating. Though I might get a "green" beer after work; I'm not sure yet because I don't drink Bud Light. Well if you do go out tonight remember to be careful! Or if you're staying in click the picture for an amazing cupcake recipe.

p.s- It isn't much but I'm 1/8 Irish (my Grandma was 1/2 Irish)

Happy Valentines Day!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today! I have to go to school later and do a presentation (unless we run out of time) which means no getting out early from class. Though I don't get out too too late where Dustin and I can't go out it's just going to be during that big rush hour. We didn't have anything in particular planned but last night he suggested we go out somewhere. So we're going to play what I call "Restaurant Roulette" and see which one is either less crowded or doesn't have the longest wait. We'll just have to wait and see!

P.S- A Very Special and Happy Birthday to my BFF Casey :)

New Years Resolutions

Save More Money. I'm generally good with money but sometimes those few trips to the store (i.e Walmart) tend to add up at the end of the month. I want to manage my money and find a way to save more. My three major things I'm saving for is a down payment on a car, new and bigger television, and another tattoo as a graduation gift to myself this summer.

Have More Faith. As a Christian when times get tough I look to God to give me the strength to get through it all, but sometimes I just stress myself out. I'm a very critical person who likes to know what is ahead and plan things out, so when it doesn't I panic and get overwhelmed. I need to remember that God is there for me when things go wrong and that I don't have to go it alone.

Read More. The only time I read any more is when I have to do a book report for class and even then I find myself missing just reading for fun. My grandmother lent me The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo plus the next book The Girl Who Played with Fire so I'll kick off with those. I also have a stack of books I got when my friend Casey and I would visit the used book store downtown that I would really like to read.

Get Back On Track. I need to get back on track when it comes to eating healthy and exercising. I was doing so well at school but now I need to make a plan that works with  my life now instead of back then. By doing so I can be more focused and more likely to stay on track.

Do More for the Blog. I would love to do more articles or more posts in general. Maybe take more photos, write more personal post and do more style/outfit ones. Also it'd be great to work with other blogs to do articles on my blog that way I can share some of my favorites with you and get my blog out in the world a bit.

Work On Craft'n Bettie. There is so much I want to do with my little etsy shop! There are a lot of pieces I'm bringing in and some going out for good, but the most part I found what I want the store to be and I want to stick with it. I also want to expand it an add accessories such as vintage/upcycled purse, hair accessories and other fashion accessories. Maybe even later in the year start making my own metal charms but that's a different story.

Thrift More. I don't go thrifting nearly as much as when I was a teenager and I really want to get back to checking out stores regularly. Now I know I mentioned saving more and how can I save if I spend it going to thrift stores? Well I don't buy junk and I'm really good at saying no when a piece is cheap but would just be put in storage or it being what I want and out of my budget. In a way it'll keep me from spending too much on the vintage pieces I want like a mountain/forest paint by numbers or a mid century credenza.

Finish Projects. Last but not least I want to finish some of my projects like decorating the bedroom and the vintage wall in the living room. I got some of the small ones done before Christmas but I want to get the big projects done before the summer time!

I'll be working on New Years Eve and so will le boyfriend so we don't have anything major planned. It might just turn out like last year, a few mike hard lemonades, pizza and sitting in the drive way watching fireworks. What are some of your resolutions or plans for the new year? Feel free to link them!!

Holly Jolly Christmas

As much stressing out that I was doing before Christmas yesterday was the total opposite! Even though we had to go to two different places that day and us running late in the morning it was a great day. I still have some family and friends to visit for the holidays but the last few days were filled with plenty of food, sweets and family time.
Friday I spent basically all my time baking sugar cookies until I went to work then came home and finished decorating them. I tried my hand at homemade frosting again (my first time was a bad experience) and it turned out so well. On Christmas Eve we went to my great Grandma's for Christmas dinner as always. It was fun and we all had a good time. Then Christmas day started with church service and then lunch at my Grandparents. Instead of turkey we did things a little different and had everyone bring in BBQ from where they lived in NC. After opening presents we headed down to Dustin's Grandparents for Christmas dinner and had turkey and all the fixin's. We hung out and listened to everyone play guitar, including Dustin, and just talked. It was a great day and I am kind of sad to see it over but so excited for next Sunday! I hope everyone had a good day :)

p.s- more pictures to come!

Happy Labor Day!

I'm not really sure how you celebrate Labor Day? I don't really celebrate it more like try and enjoy my last day of Summer before I have to get up at 6 am tomorrow morning for class. Sorry about no post asides from the usual ones but I've been busy and haven't really done much besides that, but I will be posting the 30 DDC for yesterday and today's drawings so check back tonight. Well I'm going shopping soon to pick up some needed crafts and housing decorations. Is there anything special that you or your family does for Labor Day? Hope you all have a great day!

21st Birthday Continued

So Dustin and I went with my Grandparents, my Mother and her fiance to Chili's. I had a Strawberry Presidente Margarita and that was plenty enough. I got cash and cupcakes from the grandparents; and little gnome from my Mom for the front yard. Anyway here are some pictures of the awesomeness that was my 21st birthday dinner!

21st Birthday

So far this morning as been pretty good. Slept in until 11 am, le boyfriend told me he'd finish cleaning house, and I got a lot of messages on Facebook telling me Happy Birthday! The only downside was I rag rolled my hair hoping for nice soft curls and ended up with tight crazy curls. I feel five again but I'm going to take a shower and wash them out, then just curl my hair later tonight. Alright off to get some late breakfast and working on the etsy banner. I just can't make up my mind on a font yet!

PS- I'm going to be doing a two hour sale today, most likely 10% off the whole store. I'll post the code up here that you can use.

Happy Holidays

Just wanting to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Holiday!

'Tis the Season

The winter holidays are just around the corner and it's time to start thinking of gift ideas. There is only one thing though, you have no idea what to get them! Never fear for I am here to help with six gift ideas for the six different type of people in your life. Oh did I mention most are around $20?

1. The Fashionista- You can never have enough purses so try pairing a simple colored purse and a matching piece of jewelry like these from Forever21.
2. The Crafter- Being a crafter myself I love looking to other sites for ideas, so why not give them a book full of ideas like this one from Mod Cloth.
3. The Baker- Baking is fun so why can't the tools be as well? Simply tie a ribbion around these beautiful pot holders from Antropologie and tuck these adorable measuring spoons from Plasticland inside.
4. The Music Guru- Show them how much you care about their tunes by giving them an awesome poster of their favorite band like this one from Interpunk.com.
5. The Reader- Something classic for a classic person; fill their stocking with one of these amazing hardcovers of an old classic like this beautiful hardcover of Pride and Prejudice from Mod Cloth.
6. The Joker- For someone that always has something funny to say give them a shirt that shows it like this one from Threadless.com.
