D.I.Y | Television Stand

I found this displaying a tacky lamp in the local thrift store for only $10. At first I just changed the knobs, cleaned it then used it as an "entry way" table.
It worked at the entry way but we still put our junk on the old television stand. So I decided to re-purpose it  and put chalkboard paint to the front. we've already had an epic tic-tac-toe game on it
There is still a lot of work to be done to it on the outside and inside. It's a little rough on the outside so new staining is in order then I want to put a shelf inside for more storage and to put the game system inside (and drill some holes in the back for cords). I think it looks great so far and once we get rid of the speakers and do the small things it'll be done!

p.s: Yes I was watching Doctor Who when I took the picture.

Vintage Finds: 8/6/11

I went  back to the same antique show that I had previously went to with my friend Desiree a few months ago. I was suppose to go with her again but just drive separately so Dustin could bring the truck. Everything worked out fine except for the fact I was thinking we were going Saturday instead of Sunday. I got mixed up but I found some good stuff. Take a peek at some of the goodies:

Antique dresser $120

We need to replace the wood in the drawers and buy new knobs but it's solid oak and beautiful!

Real agate pieces $8

Roman Empire Coins 200-300 AD (Dustin picked these up) $5

Vintage Owl Pin/Charm $10

Pyrex colored mixing bowls $35 for set

The show is open all weekend but it rained really bad Friday so there wasn't as many vendors out in the lot areas. They tend to have the cheaper stuff so I didn't get as much as I wanted. Also I didn't see the Pyrex lady's booth so no decorative Pyrex or Star Wars tumblers. I'm glad I found some great vintage items but so glad to be out of the humidity. Hope everyone has an eventful weekend!

Quick Tip

This came in handy when I was rearranging furniture in my apartment. This only works on carpets but it does a great job. I moved the sofa where it was against the wall but the legs left indents in the carpet that could easily be seen. It was almost like a ghost sofa in the middle of the room. Anyway simply take an ice cube and lay it on the indent(s) and let it melt. Once it melts it should be raised up enough to be "fluffed" back to normal by a vacuum. Sometimes it takes two tries depending on the carpet and the item that was sitting on it. Give it a try and tell me how it turns out!
