Hugs and Kisses

I'm from the south and even though I don't say ya'll all the time doesn't mean I don't say ma'am and sir or hun and dear. Though when I go to sign my name to a comment I stick with the dash and call it a day. If I'm writing to a close friend I'll sign with "love you!" or "xoxo" but I've never been able to transcend those hugs and kisses to my comments. There is nothing wrong with it I just get worried that I'm going to sound like a creeper even though I don't think that when I see other people do it. I've tried to jazz up my typed signature with a "~" or "<3" but nothing really sticks. Maybe I'll break this habit and get to the hugs and kisses and show my southern hospitality a little bit.

p.s: I'm working on a nice font signature to do but I can't make up my mind on a font!

Shop Talk

I have some good news and  a lot to think about for Craft'n Bettie. I didn't have class until later today so I worked on a few pieces I had for the Fall collection. I made two of these amethyst owl necklaces and four pairs of owl earrings with the extra owls I had from the necklaces. I was going to make apple earrings but I need new head pins because the bead opening is too big for my regulars ones. I did kind put one together to see what they'd look like and it really looks like a tiny apple; I'm excited to get the new head pins. I'm going to have to change the design to one necklace but it'll be okay. I'm leaning towards a charm necklace and make earrings out of the extra charms. There was going to be another necklace but the more I looked at it I decided to save it for the Spring collection. Since I'm going to have to order the head pins I'm going to post-pone the sale date but that gives me more time to order some cabochons which means I can add a couple rings to the collection.

A lady that works with my boyfriend, who is a crafter, had messaged me a few months ago about being part of a craft show. I got a message back from her today about being part of a Christmas show and sharing a table. It sounds like a great opportunity and being a Christmas show I know a lot of people like to get gifts for family members. I haven't said yes to it yet, even though I think I'm going to, there are just a few things I have to do. I need to at least have a few Christmas themed items and it being about two months away I need to think of ideas. I need to plan out display ideas and packaging for the jewelry. I know it isn't much but I tend to over think things. Once I get it all out on paper I'll be a little less freaked out and more excited. Have you done a craft show? Did you share a booth/area? Any tips?

Obsession Wednesday

For some reason I've been going crazy over dark purple! It reminds me of Fall and all things Halloween so here are some awesome things with that deep purple.

Business Casual

Before I start my article review for class I thought I'd share what I wore to class. My school has a dress code and it's business casual though I managed to sneak my diy oxford tennis shoes past my teachers today. I might not get so lucky next time so I changed to my black flats.

My poor owl lost his eye in class but I kept it so I can fix it later

I think I found it!

So back a while ago I did a post about finding a newer light weight computer. Well having registered for my Winter classes (we have three terms) I couldn't avoid a three hour wait between classes ones a week. Times like these I miss the school apartments but it does make it more urgent I get a newer laptop to manage my time wisely. I checked out at few brands like Toshiba, HP, and Dell then finally set my heart on the new Inspiron 14z by Dell.  They are less then an inch thick an weight around 4 lbs which isn't too bad. They start at $599 but offer other features that are still reasonable priced. Now I'm not promoting Dell but just giving the facts that made me choose this particular laptop. Even though I get a monthly allowance I don't spend it outside it limits for what it's suppose to be used for (even though I can do whatever I want with it I'd rather take the adult approach) but I'm think next month with it coming I may use it to purchase the computer in full rather than do a monthly plan. I'm super excited and I'm already looking for decals to put on it! No longer will I have to post and surf the web using this ol' computer lab desktop during school. Well my next class is starting soon better head off. What do you think about this computer? What kind of extra stuff do you have for your personal computer/laptop?

A-Z of Me

I've seen this little tid-bit going around the blogesphere so I thought I'd join in on the fun and do one as well!

A. Age: 21
B. Bed size: queen but if I could have a king I'd love it...I tend to sleep in this weird stretch.
C. Chore that you hate: I think it'd would have to be folding laundry. I mean it's not hard but you spend so much time folding and putting them up and the next day it feels like everything is in the dirty clothes again.
D. Dogs: I would like to have a dog even though I'm more of a cat person.
E. Essential start to your day: Hitting the snooze button just for another 10 minutes. I set my alarm this way so I can wake up a little bit before having to actually get up.

F. Favorite color:  I tend to rotate on a few favorite colors. Right now I love olive green but I like burnt orange, mustard yellow, plum and light blue.
G. Gold or Silver:  I use to hate gold but I found out I do like it and now most of my necklaces are gold. I still love silver too.
H. Height: 5'1" I know I'm short.
I. Instruments you play: I don't play anything now but I played clarinet in middle school band.
J. Job title: server/waitress
K. Kids:  Not right now.
L. Live:  Denver, NC at the moment
M. Mother’s name:  Shannon
N. Nicknames: Some have been Ambear or Ber but I usually just go by Amber
O. Overnight hospital stays A few ER visits but never overnight stay
P. Pet peeves: People who pick or bite at their nails in public. And I don't mean the small, "Oh I noticed I have a little dirt on my nail let me clean it" but the full fist in their mouth or fingers digging in their nails..grosses me out thinking of it.
Q. Quote from a movie:  "
The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of" ~Breakfast at Tiffany

I know so many people quote this movie but some days you do just get the mean reds.
R. Right or left handed: left
S. Siblings: I'm the oldest but have younger half-siblings: Chance 15, Kerri 8, Jonathan 6 and Judah 3
T. Time you wake up: School: 6am/8am Weekends: 9am-11am
U. Underwear: Hipsters are comforable.
V. Vegetable you hate: I despise cooked cabbage.
W. What makes you run late: setting the alarm clock wrong or thinking I have everything ready only to realize I'm missing half the stuff I need.
X. X-Rays you’ve had: Only at the dentist.
Y. Yummy food that you make: Anything casserole form I make yummy squash, asparagus or broccoli casserole. I was thinking of putting this as a side dish option at the Cafe :)
Z. Zoo animal: There are so many cute creatures but honestly I love the frog, snake or lizard area.

My Neck of the Woods

Yes I'm alive! I've been rather busy with school, being immune to coffee's effect, and homework. Plus this major weather shift from extremely hot and warm to cloudy and cold doesn't help. I don't know if it is just going on in North Carolina but I've already pulled out my sweater and jackets because it's been so chilly lately. Don't get me wrong I love the Fall weather but this isn't the lovely Fall weather in the Carolina's.

Some Craft'n Bettie updates: I'm working on some Fall jewelry, some piece just need assembling and some still need supplies. I want to get it out around October which will give me time for the rest of the Harry Potter jewelry and new items to sale. Plus don't forget the sale items are half off the original price with a very low shipping cost! Enough advertising but thought I'd share it with y'all. Well I'm going to make me a soup and sandwich and get ready to settle down for bed. Goodnight!

Apple Festival

This is an annual festival in my hometown where they close off the downtown area and have vendors, great food and local produce. It was kind of cloudy and looked like it was going to rain but I had a great breakfast, warm apple cider, tried a fried Oreo and had funnel cake so I have to say it was a good day.
