DIY Make-Up/Jewelry Organizer

My poor make-up bag has to house a majority of my make-up due to the fact our bathroom has no dressers to store it in. What is left over gets thrown on top of my little dresser in my "vanity" corner. Since we're using the antique dresser my Ikea dresser is pretty much empty. I stumbled upon this awesome d.i.y for jewelry drawer organization with Pyrex from The Victory Garden. So I decided to do the same thing but for my make-up in the top dresser.

What you'll need:
  • Empty top dresser
  • Vintage glasses, plates and small dishes
  • Felt
  • Fabric
  • Make-Up/Jewelry that needs storing

Step 1: Rinse your thrifted glasses, plates and dishes under water; drying with a paper/cloth towel will get any dirt off.
Step 2: Line your drawer with felt; this keeps pieces from sliding or falling over when you shut the drawer.
Step 3: Lay fabric over the felt; I used a thrifted pillow case and just folded to fit you can also cut it to fit.
Step 4: Arrange your dishes and place things where they need to go!
Tips: I used a brandy glass for lip sticks but be sure anything tall will fit when you close the drawer.

Now the top has been almost cleared off! There are a few pieces I want to get out of the way.
I want to use a small shelf (the one I had didn't work out) to put some things like the glasses/shade bowl on top to get it out of the way.

By thrifting the supplies it cost me under $2 (that's including 3 pieces that I ran out of space for) and even adding the felt was only $0.80 for four pieces. So organizing my make-up was under $3 which cost less than a small plastic organizer that cost around $5! Hope this project helps you find ways to organize on a budget.
